The "Spirit Trees" photographs were made in an grove of Eucalyptus trees in northern California. Native to Australia, Eucalyptus trees are regarded by their aboriginal neighbors as final resting places of the spirits that made "all that is". As the seasons peel away layers of bark, colorful human, animal and supernatural images emerge that inspired many of the myths and legends of what is the worlds oldest continuous civilization. The intent of these photographs is to suggest the nature of those ancient visions.
